Pass the Token Please!

There are plenty of things to worry about in my everyday life – will my son get in to his favorite college, will my daughter be scared on her first sleepover, will my dog ever stop sticking his cold nose in my face to wake me in the morning.  A big worry in the Hospitality Industry is how to protect your guest’s credit card information and your business from theft and fraudOPERA Property Management System and Central Systems have a working solution that takesthis worry away.   Tokenization!

Quite a few years back, I worked for a marketing company and I was amazed at how easily customers handed out their credit card numbers over the phone.  It made me realize how easy it would be to make a living if I was of a criminal nature.  Gratefully, I am not!  Publicity to educate and warn people about scams and swindles has improved since that time, but those of a criminal nature will always exist.

OPERA  takes great care of credit card information.  Storing only encrypted card numbers, masking the number except for last 4 when displayed in the application, and purging older and unused card numbers.  As security becomes more stringent it offers a greater challenge to hackers to discover what they desire.  Tokenization removes the object of their desire from OPERA!

With Tokenization, your guest’s credit card information is no longer stored in the OPERA database.  Instead, it is quickly and securely passed over to the experts, a third party credit card vendor, who will manage the data and pass a token back for use.  This token is attached to the reservation and can also be attached to the guest’s profile, just as the credit card number would have been.  To the OPERA User there is no noticeable difference.  The token is what is now passed between OPERA and the credit card vendor for any payments for their current stay, for future stays and for any other transactions that they have.

So don’t worry about some of life’s little things and let OPERA handle one less worry for you by passing the token!
