Doesn’t it seem like everyone owns a cell phone these days? Texting has become such a convenient way of communicating that it almost seems a thing of the past to actually mail a letter or pick up the phone to call someone. With statistics showing that over 4.5 billion people all over the world own a cell phone, it only makes sense for hotels to utilize this technology to their advantage.
For example, a guest makes a reservation at your hotel and with the click of a mouse, a confirmation letter could be sent via text. How’s that for being efficient?! Or maybe a guest is expecting a package to be delivered to the hotel and would like to know when it arrives. A message can be added to the guest’s reservation in the property management system and then sent as a text message.
Texting can also be utilized within departments of the hotel. An excellent example of this is with communication between the Front Desk and Housekeeping to alert the staff when a guest is waiting on a room to be cleaned. When the guest arrives to check-in and the room is not ready, the application can send a text to the housekeeping department to‘rush’ this room. And when the room is ready, a text can be sent to the guest who is lounging by the pool.
These are only a few examples of how MICROS OPERA Property Management System incorporates the most up-to-date technology, such as text messaging, to improve the overall guest experience.
Now, if we can just figure out what all those acronyms mean (LOL!)…
